Introducing festival exhibitor Kees Van Der Westen
The world of coffee is made up of people with a mutual goal: to improve the quality of coffee.
Festival exhibitor Kees Van Der Westen wants everyone at the festival to share their insights and take the quality of coffee to even greater heights.
After studying industrial design in the early 1980s, Kees Van Der Westen noticed that Italian built espresso machines were not nearly as beautiful as they used to be in the early 50s and 60s.
Therefore he designed and created a unique machine unlike any other ever built and this was the spark that started his journey into the world of espresso.
Until the early 90s he built one-off machines, each extraordinary in design and usability, but in the 90s he started creating a series machine - the Stromboli - of which 13 were made.
Researching and perfecting the techniques used in machines worldwide gave him a huge amount of experience which led to the Mirage, naturally with a beautiful design.
The two models that followed also started on the design table of Van Der Westen and after intensive collaboration with specialists worldwide, there are currently 3 models being built: The Mirage, Speedster and the Spirit.
Every machine is hand built in the workshop in the Netherlands and a Kees Van Der Westen is the machine of choice for many baristas across the world, to deliver the highest possible quality.
At The Amsterdam Coffee Festival
The world of coffee is made up of people with a mutual goal: to improve the quality of coffee.
Instead of keeping secrets a true barista shares his knowledge with others whether they are colleagues or competitors. That deserves a stage.
At the ACF Kees van der Westen are keeping part of their stand for two Speedsters where everyone is welcome to share their insights and take the quality of coffee to even greater heights.
